Good news! The province is preparing to roll out a $35 million wage top up for frontline staff in various sectors, including ours. This should translate to about an additional $5/hour for shifts worked from November 1, 2020 – January 10, 2021. Frontline staff working in our Residential Program, including DSP’s, AC’s, and Coordinators, making less than $25/hour currently, are all eligible. Staff need to apply for this top-up themselves, as it does not appear to be going through the agency’s payroll system.

That said, if you have any questions about eligible hours, or need help navigating the application, Mazel will likely get up to speed on this before the applications open on December 8th.

We will be looking into if there are any provisions or options for hours worked in SIL, Home Share, Day Services, and other staff positions. At this point it looks like 24/7 shift staffed homes is the target for this supplement. As always, we will continue to push for permanent wage increases as we move forward as well.
