Employee Health and Wellness

Lifeworks Employee Assistance Plan

Arcane Horizon is pleased to have partnered with Lifeworks to provide our staff team with a comprehensive employee assistance plan that allows team members to work with counsellors in a wide variety of areas.  Counselling can be attained online, over the phone or in person.  Additionally, eligible staff may also access helpful articles related to good mental and physical health and retail and service discounts through the website.  Please note that some services may be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

City of Winnipeg Corporate Gym Memberships

Arcane Horizon is proud to be a part of the City of Winnipeg’s corporate gym membership program.  Through this program, eligible staff team members can access discounts to nearly a dozen city fitness centres.  

The gym membership program has been suspended due to the COVID pandemic.

Canada Life Pension

Recognizing the importance of planning for retirement, Arcane Horizon offers an excellent pension plan to its full time and eligible part time employees through Canada Life.

Staff Documentation

Criminal Record Checks

A Criminal Record Check (CRC) completed within three months prior to hire is required of all new employees.  The CRC must be completed through the Winnipeg Police Department for all residents of Winnipeg or through the RCMP for those who live outside of the city.  The CRC must include a Vulnerable Person's Sector check.  Employees will be asked to sign an annual declaration to indicate that there have been no changes to their CRC.

Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry

An Adult Abuse Registry (AAR) and Child Abuse Registry (CAR) check completed within three months prior to hire is required for all new employees.  Employees will be asked to sign an annual declaration to indicate that there have been no changes to their AAR/CAR checks.

Driver’s Abstract

Driver’s abstracts are required for all staff that are going to be driving while employed with Arcane Horizon.  Information on the driver’s abstracts and how to obtain them is in the following link.

Training and Development Links

Red River College Direct Service Provider

An accelerated, self-directed online course to help recruit and train staff on behalf of community-based agencies that provide services and supports to Manitobans with disabilities. The week-long, tuition-free course provides students with the knowledge required to work as Direct Support Workers / Direct Service Providers in the many employment opportunities that are immediately available across Manitoba.

Red River College Disability and Community Support

In this program students will develop the knowledge, skills, and values required to support and enhance the development of persons with disabilities. The program focuses on 'community', and students will provide support to persons with disabilities in schools, homes, employment, and leisure settings. The program is offered as a workplace model which means that courses are offered in a block format and practica is integrated throughout the term. It also means that regular applicants will learn alongside individuals who are currently working in the field.
