Hearts & Hands Spotlight: Protelec Alarms

At Arcane Horizon, safety is not simply a policy — it is a responsibility. Every individual we support, every staff member who walks through our doors, and every visitor who enters our property deserves an environment grounded in security, dignity, and peace of mind.

Over the past six months, we have made meaningful investments to strengthen the safety of our central office at 3401 Roblin Blvd. A key partner in this work has been Protelec Alarms, a respected local company specializing in professional security services.

Protelec recently upgraded our building’s alarm system, modernizing our protection with improved monitoring capabilities and faster response integration. We have installed internal and external camera systems that help us better monitor both our building and parking lot, providing enhanced visibility and accountability. Inside the office, new monitoring systems now allow for improved door control and better oversight of sensitive areas, supporting both operational integrity and staff safety.

These upgrades are part of a broader security strategy. In addition to the alarm and camera enhancements, Arcane Horizon has installed a perimeter fence around our parking lot, upgraded our Wi-Fi infrastructure to support secure system integration, and added overnight exterior flood lighting to brighten the property after hours. These improvements serve as both protective measures and deterrents, reinforcing that our space is cared for, monitored, and respected.

As an organization that supports adults living with intellectual disabilities, proactive security matters deeply. Our role is not only to provide services but to create environments where individuals feel safe, valued, and protected. Infrastructure is often unseen work — but it forms the foundation that allows our programs, staff, and community to thrive.
